    I remember doing a Tour De Takistan once with some guys from the end of one airfield to the other once. If these are half as fun as that was, I need to show up for some of this.
  2. It's harder to do than one might expect. But I see a lot of BLUFOR on that are not in TS, and are not even qualified to play. But I agree that there should at least be a while-listing involved that keep unqualified players from even grabbing the slots. This goes for other factions too, but it would take some time to implement it. This has been a problem since the very beginning and it would be harder to tackle than just having staff on, as staff cannot possibly have an air-tight system by moderation alone.

    -1 Any Humvee, whether it be CROWS or TOW or anything else, can easily be countered. As an indep, I will bring a suicide vest or IED with me, and run up behind the vehicle in question. If I cannot get behind them because they're moving, I shoot out a tire because in any weaponized humvee, there's a minimum range for any weapons being fired, then you place the explosive and either sit back and scream to the top of your lungs: "Allahu ackbar!" or run away screaming to the top of your lungs: "REEEEEEE!". It's really not that hard to counter such a vehicle.

    I'm not going to pass judgement as of yet, but I will say that the fact you do not meet minimum reqs. goes to show that you will not become staff, so I'm not sure this even matters. But I do not see you on at all. Show up some, play with the people and I'll think about giving you a recommendation, or lack thereof.

    +1 for everything but the AI. -1 for AI. As an ex-developer and mission creator, I will tell you that AI are very rowdy at the best of times when not controlled by players, they will follow their scripted paths (which cannot be never-ending) to a point, and once they are done with that, they will sit and stand around, or they will wander off- MAYBE even run away for a ridiculous amount of time if something that isn't on their 'side' comes in. Their side for this specific PBO, btw, is indeps. The way the side relations work for them is that the independents tend to serve as the 'people's faction', but AI are dormant in this respect until they end up armed or what I like to call 'supressed' (When 'hostile' weapons start firing or an armed/armored 'hostile' vehicle is heard or seen by them), in which case they will become hostile to the factions indeps are hostile to, and the AI from those factions will in turn become hostile to them. To make the AI work would require several plugins that change how side relations work, and that seems like a fair bit of effort for adding something that will ultimately serve mainly to slow down server load times. So in short: Civilian AI are just Independent AI that are dormant. AI from other factions may randomly end up killing them, making their immersion increase ultimately a toss up. EDIT: Also of note, killing civilians as an indep counts towards lowering your faction standing, so you may find that your AI, or friendly INDEP AI may kill you as if you had gone 'rogue', so there's always that.

    Now something like this used to not necessarily be a problem, as there was until now no real way to become a supporter after Bohemia's demonetization policy, but I still feel it's something that should be brought up: The AA-12. The AA-12 Shotgun in Arma 2's PMC expansion is one of the most overpowered infantry weapons to ever make it into the game. The reason for this, aside from the obvious, is the fact that while you can use pellets and slugs in such a weapon, which are already quite dangerous in the hands of anyone that knows how to peak, there's ammunition for it so dangerously Overpowered that it can single-handedly take down any armored vehicles (given enough time). This of course, is the 'High-Explosive' ammunition. HE rounds function similarly to slugs, but has an effective range of 600m on top of brandishing a very high accuracy. Each slug functions as a grenade would, and has roughly the same power. This round can devastate Light tanks in a single mag, medium tanks in 2-3, and heavy tanks in only 7. Which is absolutely insane for a foot-soldier's primary weapon. This weapon is currently sold by the Supporter weapons dealer accessible only by BLUFOR, and is clearly too powerful to be used by even VIPs, as the firepower is simply to great. Don't believe me? Well I figured you wouldn't. So I set up a few favorite tanks of friends of mine and tested them against the power of the AA-12 in the attached files. Keep in mind how much ammo I have spent in the top right corner as the images progress: In case you weren't counting, that's; M6 Linebacker = 3 magazines, M113 = 1 magazine, BMP-2 = 3 magazines, M1A2 TUSK = 8 magazines. So in closing, I believe that not just the AA-12 HE rounds should be removed from any and all vendors, but the AA-12 itself as it is simply too powerful for the game, let alone our server.

  9. Have you ever been to the illegal points? They block vehicles too, as they use dragon's teeth barricades. So maybe revise that answer. +1 from me though, it hurts RP when a border is closed and nobody but BLUFOR/OPFOR can put the gates down. What if there's nobody on that can? What if all the CPs are closed? It's very possible... Then the whole server is ruined. I'd make it to where all factions can just access the gates, and call it a day. I imagine it'd be just a quick copy paste.

    I'll take a basic screen of how I do it in basic mission editor, that might help you understand how it works. It would be interesting to see if you could get something like that working in a way where anyone buying a vehicle could edit it, though I'm sure there's a way. May just be harder than is really worth it. But one way to edit loadouts is below:

    +1 Spamming jets over and over during a war when one side grossly outguns the other will always end in a victory. Everyone should have a shot to win no matter their spending, so I support the suggested fluc. However, I'm not sure how you could implement the loadout system properly, as when I change loadouts on entities (Go to editor and give mounted weapons to an infantry entity ;3) it usually bugs out if replicated multiple times. Then again, I'm don't release MP maps, so I am far from an expert.

    I was this gun though. Staan blew half the city down with the gun when Bogus and I went up there with a DshKM technical. Guy tore down 5 buildings before we died. I guess I'm just a minority voice on this, though. It's a secret to people just starting up, maybe not vets. People also forget about this, as I have. Just saying supporter being open again may make this a big problem in the future, but like I said... Minority voice. I'll take whatever comes, I suppose. Just very annoying spending 5 mil only to have that be squandered by small arms.

    160 rounds from a gun isn't excessive when put to the test against the most powerful tank on the server though? I had no clue it was available to other factions, but that still doesn't change my personal opinion. If you won't remove the AA-12 itself, you should at least consider taking out the HE. 160 pellets DESTROYED the Tusk, I had invincibility on, and was checking it after every mag. 1 mag made turret tracks greenish yellow, 2 mags made engine green-yellow and tracks/turret yellow, 3 mags made the hull greenish-yellow, turret/tracks orange and engine yellow, 4 mags immobilized the vehicle entirely. The vehicle blows up when engine or hull reaches red, not taking into account the other factors of the vehicle. Destruction is just the point of no return. Are you really going to suggest 80 rounds from the gun immobilizing a side-skirt M1A2 isn't simply excessive? Though for a gun of this magnitude, I'd say the weapon itself should be worth 800-900k, and the HE rounds 40-50k per mag. That might just be enough to discourage the use of something this crazy.

    Has it really? It would be easy to remove it from a single vendor's sell list compared to many other changes I can think of. It's just grossly unfair that now that supporter can be attained by anyone with time, that Blufor can have access to something this ridiculous. A TUSK in EIGHT magazines is very excessive.

    I'm not sure if you've ever created a mission or not, but it takes an daunting amount of work to get an entity to block that up there. It requires them to mess with the PBO, and for something as silly as that it's simply not worth it. Would likely look bad, and would take damage separately. The world-building language Arma 2 uses makes next to no sense at times, for example: player setPos (player modelToWorld [0,0,10]); ... Now looking at that, that's one of the potential commands for such an item if you replace 'player' with 'this', that you could place, and would have to place, directly overhead. You would then have to use the X,Y,Z axis to put in the proper place, and that may very well require decimals to make it look semi presentable (I once had a mission that had a 3.05333339 in place of the '10' in the example to make the entity work as intended). Also of note; while they work on something as trivial as this, they may be the only staff online when there's someone hacking away on the server and ruining everyone's day. You can't necessarily shoot out of that in any case, only peak- and peaking there is very dangerous for lack of cover. I don't see how it's any worse than rocks you can hide inside/under. You have to realize it's not that easy to edit a mission for this game, and I'd rather the development staffers devote their time to more pressing, game-breaking issues.

    On the fence about this one. Though if this comes to pass, I will help translate Russian, German, Czech or Pashto. But it really begs the question: If they can't speak English, how are they going to properly RP on a predominantly English server? It would be INCREDIBLY hard to integrate non-English speakers properly... Once you take the RP out of this server, what are you left with? I expect most non-English speakers will just RDM until they are banned. This happens a lot, and has happened a lot. Sadly don't expect this to change much.

    +1 I can see it being a good idea to lower the amount of possible Blufor and Opfor slots open to just anyone (say- Remove one of the 5 man squad slots, or at least make them for supporters to have a place to go if the team is 'full'?) This has always been an issue, because people like playing the faction that fits with their nationality more, like how I will usually go Opfor, most people playing now tend to be English or American, and will usually with Blufor because they're composed of English and American soldiers? But that's neither here nor there to the fact that there is most definitely a problem. I may also remind you of how independent works; There are only a few indep slots because most people find the lack of rules and restraints 'fun', which isn't too dissimilar to the reason DayZ is so popular. It stands to reason taking cuts at the ability for people to play en masse would fix the situation, but for something like this there's no right or wrong answer.
  21. Blufor need a trial peroid

    I am not sure I believe that the Civs are totally to blame, what with the Golden rule and such. But Blufor /should/ be held to a higher standard than any civ, as they have some sort of authority. Though minor, a single Blufor at a bad time can derail the server and perhaps hurt the reputation of new players. That being said, I think this is a good idea, though it would also be a good idea to require all Blufor slots needing a whitelist of some kind before they are allowed to join. I believe a few years ago this did exist, but I see quite a few non-whitelisted people joining Blufor for whatever reason, and they tend to: A. Get bored of the Server and leave. No harm done. B. Get noticed by admins (perhaps after causing minor harm) and being kicked/guided to TS to become qualified. C. Utterly ruin the RP for anyone around them by enforcing the classic 'KoS all the things' style I see so many Blufor take. So to reiterate, I personally have lost a lot of faith in Blufor on my time here (most of that was a few years back) but the same problems appear to be in affect. This could serve as a good crash-course to weed out those not fitting of the role. A similar action may be taken for the other non-civilian factions in the future given time, that might really clean up the problems here, but that's an issue for another time.
