Ignoring the L-39's for now, thats a topic for another thread, lets focus in on the Mortar. We've all seen first hand the raw destructive power of a mortar, cities leveled, everyone hiding in their spawn and a significantly laggier experience for everyone. I fully understand why everybody hates the mortars, but I'd suggest that maybe its not the mortars you hate and more the people who use them. *EDIT* This is suggested not just for Mortars as specified but rather a blanket rule set for Artillery in general With this in mind I'd propose the following: 1) Mortars MUST operate with a two man team, one on the mortar and one spotting targets. a) Mortar strike markers must be placed by a spotter on GLOBAL channel on the map. b) Mortars must ONLY be fired on the markers. c) Only MILITARY targets can be targeted (Military vehicles, manned checkpoints, weapons emplacements). 2) Mortars must only be used between up-time of 120minutes and 240 minutes. 3) Mortars must identify themselves to staff via a poke on teamspeak, and must wait until a reply is given before an attack. 4) Only ONE mortar is to be out per faction at any given time. 5) Strikes on Rasman require a message in GLOBAL, something to the tune of "Mortar Strike Incoming Rasman" BEFORE you fire the shell. 6) Once a target has been destroyed or five minute's since the first strike, whichever comes first, you MUST stop firing. 7) BLUFOR, OPFOR, INDEP and PMC are required on teamspeak as is, however should a civilian terrorist use a mortar, they must also be on teamspeak. In Addition: Mortar's should NOT be included under the crossfire rule. ALL civilians killed by a mortar strike must be compensated in full, a successful strike with a good spotter will only hit MILITARY targets. This is to discourage the use of Mortars on built up cities or anywhere near civilians. Thank you all for reading

If you're reading this, you're probably interested in becoming a staff member on TLX. There are a few requirements before you can get started. We are accepting a limited number of applicants at this time! If you're interested, feel free to send us an application for review. Requirements to apply for staff You must be an active and mature member of the server. You must have a working microphone. You must be at least 16 years of age. You must have at least 40 hours of play time in-game. You must have a forum reputation of at least 10. You must be willing to attend staff meetings on a regular basis. We usually hold them on Saturdays at 6 PM EST. You must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to staffing the server. If you meet these requirements then you can continue to filing your application by clicking here. Keep in mind that due to the high volume of applications we receive, your application may not receive an immediate response. A lack of response does not mean your application has been declined. We continually evaluate applications as our requirement for more staff members increases. Guidelines for supporting a staff application Be constructive and include reasoning. If you wish to support an application without saying anything else, then simply use the like system. Do not argue with others, simply state whether you support or contradict the application and your reasoning for doing so. You shouldn't be replying more than once. If you do not have anything to add or you want to remain neutral, then please do not make a reply. Disliking (negative support) requires justification in a reply.

So I thought that a siren/alert tone would make the RP feel more immersive and would add a little spookiness to Martial Law. I made this audio file and if people think it would be interesting it would play ONCE at the start of Martial Law. Martial Law is usually declared 1-3 times a day. Let me know what you guys think

Hey Chance, I really like the idea here. I think its a fun little idea that would definitely set the scene for a Rasman under martial law. I like the alert that you've created too. I just worry that if there is something like this in-game we'll see players abuse it by declaring and un-declaring martial law repeatedly just to play the sound. I also think that the sound is a little bit too aggressive with the siren, definitely not a comfortable sound to hear. I get that it's supposed to be something that demands your attention, but we want to give people a better listening experience, maybe you could experiment with other sirens? As for Aaron, Haden and Jack, encourage them to create forum accounts! Thank you for your suggestion, keep 'em coming!

In-game Name Chance Steam Profile Link http://www.steamcommunity.com/id/chanceamas Gametracker Link https://www.gametracker.com/player/Chance/play.tlx-gaming.com:2302/ Country you live in United States Time zone you live in EST How long have you been a TLX player? Since January 16, 2018 Have you previously been banned from the server? No Have you previously been a staff member here? No Describe yourself I live in Ohio, United States. I am currently a Junior in High School and I am a Cadet in the Police Officer Training program at my school with a very extensive application process. There are very few schools that have such a program and it is very competitive to get accepted into the class. I spend 1/3 of the school day going through the same things Cadets in the Academy go through (i.e. Physical Training, Report Writing, Room Clearing, Firearm Training, etc.). We also patrol public events for the Mayor and work side by side with the Local department ensuring public safety. I spend a large amount of my time outside of school and the program previously discussed playing video games, mainly roleplay games where I can act as an Officer. I first joined a roleplay group in around 2012 in GTA IV and have escalated to other games such as ArmA III. Roleplay gives me a way to do what I love before I can go out and really do it. It is a passion of mine and I really do enjoy it. Why should you be a staff member? I can bring knowledge, skill, and experience to the Staff Team. I have been staff for a few servers, some successful and some not, and I am looking to improve my ability to problem solve. What I have learned from all these different experiences as a staff member is that you can always learn more. I would like to use this opportunity to increase my experience, as well as provide the players with a better experience on the server. I believe I should be accepted over other applicants because I am dedicated, motivated, and experienced. I am ready to go out there and help the players of the server. I can follow instructions, be unbiased, and I am serious about the task I am performing. I have thousands of hours RPing and it is something I am very good at. Between my thousands of hours as an Officer on ArmA III and a few hundred on ArmA II, I know how the players feel about almost every situation that can happen to them. I know what it's like to sit in the Requesting Staff Channel for hours on end at the late hours of the night because no one is awake to help. I am usually one of those people and I am ready to be on late at night helping the dedicated members of the community that are working hard late into the night. I am going ensure equal, fair, and just treatment of all members of the community because that's what they deserve for joining our server. The rules are there for a reason and we need to make sure they are enforced. I am going to make sure, with all my power that all of the rules are obeyed, but also that people aren't given too harsh of punishments for their actions. I understand that we are only human and make mistakes. A skill that I have that is very valuable is empathy, I understand when someone is being sincere and when someone is being a troll. When I know someone sincerely made a mistake I give them less harsh punishments. However, if someone is obviously trolling I do not hold back, I will give them the highest punishment possible for ruining the enjoyment of other members of the community. I will be a voice for the players that do the right thing, the players that follow the rules, and the players that love this community. What qualifications or experience do you have to offer? (if any) All of my experience is from ArmA III Director of Administration - BlackOut Gaming Director of Administration - FireStorm Gaming Head Admin - Immersive Roleplay Head Admin - Quantum Gaming Admin - Abeloth Altis Life Moderator - Unstoppable Gaming Takistan Life

Good day everyone! For the past few days, I've experienced my inventory getting reset. I still have my weapons, keys etc but not all the medikits, repair kits and bank insurances, which is both expensive to repurchase all the time and just takes time. I have tried relogging, switching to a different slot and so on. It can happen randomly when I die and respawn or when I log back in. It seems to be random and I, unfortunately, have no idea what could be causing it. I don't know if this has happened to others if so, I feel sorry for them. I hope the issue will be looked into, if possible, and that a fix will happen soon since I have lost quite a bit of money on it. Wizard

BLUFOR Prices should be lowered or OPFOR limited. The reason being OPFOR, also known as TLA, is a Communist Country backed by Russia which would most likely have several dozen economic sanctions for backing a country against NATO. This, in turn, would cause Russia to slow or stop all funding to that nation as they would need to focus on the motherland. This is why it is so confusing that they have access to such amazing vehicles for such low prices. If we look at BLUFOR, also known as NATO, is an alliance of 29 Member Nations; backed mainly by the United States, the last remaining Superpower. If we think about this, what are the odds that a small communist nation with starving people and a crippled economy would be able to fight off NATO? Slim to none are my odds. Unable to feed their own population and constantly in a fight against Independents how would they have the time, money, and resources to get vehicles such as an L39 for 8 Million while NATOs cheapest Jet is an AV-8B LGB. While the AV-8B LGB is much more equipped than the L39, it is also much more expensive coming in at $12 Million USD. There is a way to limit vehicles to only have access to certain weaponry and I think this would be a good thing to do in order to balance the vehicles. In regards to equipment, BLUFOR has no Anti-Air Launcher in it's normal shops while OPFOR does. Just another example of how a trash hole communist country in disrepair is somehow better equipped and funded than an organization backed by 29 First World Countries including the United States of America. These are just a few of the issues that I provided as examples, my suggestion is that the developers look into balancing OPFOR and BLUFOR a little bit better. The small things can make all the difference in war.

I've experienced the same thing. Mostly as BLUFOR, but once or twice as a civ too.

Hey Complexity, good call was going to make a post very similair to this. The trouble with allowing the Police Chief this power, is that any old idiot can elect themselves. I had imagined something like this would be an Internal Affairs slot ONLY to be occupied by staff and select few exemplary BLUFOR officers who have shown themselves to be oh a high standard. This Internal Affairs officer would be authorised to ticket Police officers for traffic offences, Jail them for wrongful killing etc etc Just someone to hold Blufor accountable for their actions, uphold standards. Who watches the watcher's kind of thing.

+1 Only concern is, like Captain, I fear someone may abuse this. Although that can be dealt with, otherwise, great idea!
  14. 1 point
I fully support this, there are many occasions where Independents have been discouraged from playing because all of their vehicles are trapped in their area. +1

The way I imagine a mortar is to be used, and the way I did use it, was to disrupt checkpoints and send them running for cover while insurgents sneak in, to disable and destroy high value targets that pose a significant threat such as a stryker or crows, and as area denial, mortar between insurgent friendlies and the enemy faction to distract. There is no excuse for using a mortar blindly, and no excuse for civilian casualties.

Hey Chance! I see what you mean about the prices, but heres something you might not have considered. OPFOR are an army in their homeland, they have all of their assets available to them, theres no shipping battalions of tanks etc, so theres no reason for them not to have their equipment available. They are smaller army, backed by Russia as you say, and as such they field ex-russian equipment, which is of a lower standard when compared to that with Blufor. BLUFOR on the other hand, are a NATO taskforce of peacekeepers in foreign land, far from friendly territory in a landlocked desert. Everything they have there is airdropped in along a long and tedious logistics train, all costing money and taking time. Typically, a lot of Blufor's heavier equipment is more expensive than Opfor's because A) it is not readily available to them in foreign land and B) Blufor equipment is entirely superior to what Opfor can field. Blufor possess modern armour, thermal sights, faster jets and bigger guns on balance. What it all boils down to is OPFOR is a country that has its military in full force against the insurgent's in its western territory, and fighting border friction with the NATO peacekeepers to the north. BLUFOR are a small force tasked with upholding the peace in Northern Takistan until such a time as the region is capable of doing so itself, and to protect from insurgent attacks. Hope that clears up for you what you might think is an unbalanced game. The game is meant to be unbalanced to some degree, though the reason for that imbalance is when push comes to shove, Blufor can produce bigger and better equipment.
