  1. Hi everyone, I've played Taki Life years ago and came back recently to play, considering that this is the only Taki Life server with a population left I wanted to make an observation. The server is an RDM/VDM-fest. Cops kill cops, civs kill civs, insurgents kill everyone, OPFOR... well OPFOR just kinda sits there. Now RDM isn't allowed, obviously, but I think the reason why these problems happen is because the cops(BLUFOR) can't do their jobs, they can't do police stuff because they have insurgents to deal with 90% of the time. (Disclaimer: its also partly due to there being some stupid cops too). Now, I wanna point out in my opinion what insurgents bring to the table because, in theory, it is a good faction and realistic since there are insurgents IRL. However, it isn't being implemented properly. Insurgents are just players that want to run around and blow shit up without following civilian rules. They are no different than civilian terrorists, except they are terrorists from the get-go. Here is what insurgents can do: Take control of areas and RP inside them Conduct terrorist attacks Terrorist shit basically So with that being what insurgents do, here is was civilian terrorists can do: Take control of areas Conduct terrorist attacks Terrorist shit See where I'm going with this? Now there are people that play insurgents properly, take over towns, ask me if I'm Muslim etc, but that is so rare. 90% of the time they camp and snipe CPA or invade Rasman. Now you could say that BLUFOR and OPFOR have better weapons and armor and they can deal with them and that's true, but once you kill them they come back and the cycle repeats. I honestly think that the role of insurgent is just an excuse to kill cops/opfor/pmc and that while it has some pros, they are massively outweighed by the cons, which results in a faction that is detrimental to the small amount of RP left in the server. Deleting the faction wouldn't even be hard, open the mission file, select everything that is independent and delete. Make the map just be North Takistan and South Takistan. Give checkpoints a purpose besides sniper practice. If deleting insurgents is not an option, then make it so that terrorists(insurgents and civilian terrorists) need a reason to declare terror. Cop blew up your tire? Declare terror. Cop killed your buddy? Declare terror. Don't like Martial Law? Declare terror. Taxes too high? Declare terror. It shouldn't be acceptable to declare terror simply cos you wanna kill people (which I myself am guilty of). So, I hope y'all take something from this and find a way to make the server less of a fuck-fest.
  2. Asking people to get on the server won't do much, you need to get them to want to join themselves. The other Taki Life server right now has more players because it doesn't have OPFOR and INDEP so people can be civilians and roleplay in peace. It also has things like a court system, proper southern government, cops that actually act like cops. Monthly / Bi-monthly updates are a good idea, maybe implement something new in each one. Events are also good but events are more successful when you already have a well-established population, I don't think it will do much with a small population. I've given some ideas before in the suggestions forums to remove INDEP, change the map to Chernarus and some other minor stuff. In my opinion, if you want to stay alive and successful compete with the other server you need to bring something new to the table. The only reason TLX had a stable population like a month ago was because it was the only Taki Life server, now there is competition, and you need to compete for the player base, asking people to join won't be enough.
  3. Chernarus?

Hi again everyone, I haven't been on the server in a couple days now and wanted to make a new suggestion. Some of you might remember that I suggested we remove insurgents a while back, and if you thought that was extreme then boys hold on. This time I'm suggesting we move to Chernarus. I'll give you some benefits of why I think this might be a good idea. A better setting for RP (proper cities) Unique server (all life servers are in Takistan rn) Some nostalgia I know some of the people here are concerned with losing the player base when changes like this happen, but here are my two cents on the matter, I've been playing Arma2 life servers before Operation Arrowhead came out when the only life servers were in Chernarus, I then moved onto the Taki Life servers and all the custom modded servers that followed. A lot of the servers that I played on died not because they changed things, but because it was the same thing, and it was basically the same as every other server. The downsides to this are that there might have to be a new mission made (if the administration wants I have 3 separate Cherno Life missions on my PC, since idk if we have developers). Now, this suggestion would only work if the community wants some more RP. I know a lot of players here enjoy the fact that the current mission is a Team Deathmatch of sorts, and if you wish to follow that path then this suggestion is no good since Cherno Life basically removes what would be the Insurgents and OPFOR (civs can turn into insurgents tho). If you want some more RP with Cherno then I suggest some mods, now sometimes mods do kill the player base, but that occurs when they are introduced incorrectly, I would make a separate suggestion for these mods but they only fit well within Chernarus. Now the mods that I'm suggesting aren't like those Arma2 servers that have a million of custom things, this is about 200MB of mods (which would take like 15 min to download)which adds a dozen new civilian vehicles, some ambulances, firetrucks, and new Chernarus police cars (all with working sirens and lightbars) , I'll leave the links below so you can take a look. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=20830 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=17447 I'll say this again, this is ONLY if you want a more RP based server, if you enjoy the current server gameplay, then I do not suggest making this change. Regardless of what the community wants, I'll end with a comment, there is another Taki Life server that has been gaining popularity that sometimes reaches 40-50 players, I've played on it and TBH its not my cup of tea, but what this server has is a community, the forums are active and the players know each other, the other servers forums are practically empty, so TLX has a faithful and active community, and even though it has fewer players than the other server, it has a more constant player base so I believe that if TLX were to explore adding things to the server or changing things up, it wouldn't be as bad. Thank you for reading, let me know what you think.
  4. Chernarus?

I don't know if that would be possible since the Arma3 server that TLX had branched off on its own, also I don't know if most people here could run Arma3, specially Arma3 on Chernarus with all those trees, just thinking about it scares my graphics card.
  5. Chernarus?

I understand where you're coming from 100% but the way I see it changing a map won't really change the community you know? The community is the people you play with and enjoy playing with, not necessarily the map on which you do it. Also Takistan Life Extreme is honestly just a name, the community would be the community regardless of it being Utes Life Extreme, Chernarus Life Extreme or Zargabad Life Extreme. When I played Arma2 modded life server, we would occasionally switch maps every month or so to spice things up, we weren't limited to a map because of the name of the community, and I don't see how something like that wouldn't work here.
  6. Chernarus?

I have played in a Cherno Life server years ago that split the map East/West and had a central checkpoint, it was very unique and interesting, it would need a new mission though since at least the missions that I have are only Cops and Civs.
  7. Chernarus?

I'd recommend this to any Life server that wants some more RP so I'm not sure why my playtime on the server is relevant. I do agree that Chernarus is too large if anyone here has played any Cherno Life they would remember that it is limited to the southern coasts main two cities and some of the surrounding towns and forest areas. This is obviously because Chernarus is too big and with this player base player interaction would be nill, therefore the play area is limited.
  8. I think CPA could be moved further up the road into North Takistan. Right now its a pain on the south side because it sits at the edge of a little village and there is a turn right before the checkpoint. Further up the road, the land is flatter and that means that BLUFOR/OPFOR can also build fortifications more easily. Compare CPA to CPD or CPB which are more open and flat, CPA just gets really clustered and it's where most of the traffic. I think that moving it further up the road would just be a quality of life improvement for those that man checkpoints.
  9. Manning border checkpoints.

There could be like a cap zone style thing at all the border checkpoints, but it takes longer to cap, say you have to stay inside the CP for 5 minutes, and once capped then indeps can operate the barriers. If the indeps leave the CP for longer than a certain amount of time then it returns to OPFOR/BLUFOR controls, this would also incentivize indeps to actually try and control the CP since most of the time they are just sniping it. OPFOR/BLUFOR can also retake the zone by killing all indeps.
  10. CPA......

Scanning the mountains is something we do a lot now, however, unlike the other fortifications, the camo nets cannot be moved once bought. I've spent like 10 minutes looking for the interaction menu with them, resetting TLX keys and all and they are un-interactable, so it would be nice if they were added to CPA by default. Also maybe add a fortification shop to CPA so we don't have to back and forth since OPFOR base is so far from CPA?
  11. Couple of rule suggestions

I meant constant as in all the threats are eliminated but 2 minutes later indeps/terrorists return and the cycle repeats. For example with the way it is right now, Joe and his buddies carry out his attack, then they are all killed, you are at truck shop station enroute to Rasman, and arrive after their attack is over, but you can still attack, then by the time you are dead, Joe and his buddies are themselves at truck stop on their way back to Rasman for another round, and the cycle repeats. My goal with this rule is to stop this constant flow of attacks.
  12. Hi everyone, while I've been playing in the last couple day's I've been thinking of some possible rules, keep in mind I mostly either play civ or OPFOR, so feel free to give feedback on these suggestions. Limit bank robberies to once per 30 minutes Now this one isn't because of money since I always have bank insurance, but it is a pain sometimes seeing "The bank is being robbed" like every 5 minutes. A 30-minute cooldown might also give cops some breathing room ( I know a lot of you are gonna say they are incompetent and all but that's beside the point here). Limit attacks on Rasman/Checkpoints to once per 30 minutes as well (this excludes bomb cars/suicide vests/ that kind of stuff) Now hear me out on this one cos I know a lot of you are gonna disagree. Whenever I play civ Rasman is in ruins way too often because of the conflict that happens there. The checkpoints also get attacked very often, which I believe is why they are unmanned so much. Given a 30 minute period in between attack would let civilians cross in peace without being in danger, and would give insurgents/terrorists some time to plan attacks. The 30 minute period would not apply to bomb cars and suicide attacks, which TBH is something I would like to see more of instead of getting sniped. I think having the insurgents or terrorists declare their attack over global and then announcing when all their soldiers are dead will make it clear when the grace period ends. Limit the amount of force when dealing with insurgents/terrorists When I was playing civ indies or terrorists had taken up in the truck shop town, for some reason BLUFOR's idea was to spray every building with HE grenades and destroy most of them. I don't know if this is limited by current rules or what but since civs can buy houses then BLUFOR shouldn't be able to just level a whole town. Feel free to give any feedback on the times I proposed or the rules themselves.
  13. Typical Blufor lmao

Then my only suggestion would be to remove the Stryker or have another type of test that qualifies certain BLUFOR members to use armor.
  14. Couple of rule suggestions

Because there are times where Rasman and some CP's are just under constant attack. This would help break it up.
  15. Couple of rule suggestions

Civ terrorists would count as indeps so if they are in Rasman when an indep attack on Rasman starts then they are considered part of the attack. Indeps can join the fight as long as there is at least one surviving member of the indeps there, once all indeps/terrorist die then they must announce it and the 15/30 minute grace period begins. For example you can go to Rasman while Joe is carrying out his attack, but if Joe dies while you are in truck shop town and he was the last attacker left then you have to wait, you can still reign chaos everywhere else, just not Rasman or whatever place was being attacked. I totally understand this, but this isn't because of skill, this is mostly so civilians can go into Rasman in peace or cross checkpoints in peace so they don't have to worry about being caught in the crossfire. This will also reduce the instances of checkpoints being closed and unmanned because the people manning it where killed.
  16. Typical Blufor lmao

I can't comment since I don't know what type of vehicles the indeps have. If insurgents were to be armed like their real-life counterpart it would consist mostly of offroad mounted guns, some BTR 40's and maybe a T55. You may say just this puts them at a huge disadvantage against OPFOR and BLUFOR but they are insurgents and they are supposed to be at a disadvantage.
  17. Couple of rule suggestions

If you were in Rasman/close outskirts when his attack began then you are considered part of the attack. The attack ends once all indeps (not just the one who started the attack) in the area/close vicinity are killed.
  18. Couple of rule suggestions

For 15 minutes yes, basically the time it takes you to set up and then drive to Rasman.
  19. Typical Blufor lmao

It seems to me that this post is about BLUFOR buying Strykers and camping on a hill and that it puts indeps at a large disadvantage. My suggestion was also to remove the Stryker from BLUFOR, how does that limit Indeps in any way? Do you mean it limits them if they remove the Stryker and then remove something from indeps to balance it out?
  20. Couple of rule suggestions

This is how I thought it out. If an indie attacks Rasman solo with the goal of capturing it and then fails then yes the 15/30 minute grace period would apply for all indeps. However if the indep attack on Rasman was a IED/Bomb Car/Suicide Vest, the 15/30 minute grace period does not apply, and indeps can still attempt to attack it. Indeps are still free to kill blufor/opfor/pmc anywhere else. It could be hard to manage, but a lot of the rules are hard to manage, and this means that if someone is keeping track of the time on blufor/opfor/indep/civ side, they can let the other faction know.
  21. Typical Blufor lmao

I've seen a lot of indeps complain about this in global chat, I'm just offering a possible solution. If anything this would help indeps, not BLUFOR. If the same answer was given and people are still having this issue, then I think the answer needs to be different.
  22. Move CPA further up the road

It just a quality of life update, I can live with CPA where it is right now, but as someone who like to man CPA from time to time, it makes life simpler.
  23. Typical Blufor lmao

What about removing the Stryker from BLUFOR and in order to balance it out remove some other armor from Indeps?
  24. Couple of rule suggestions

The 30 minute grace period could be 15 minutes instead so breaking that time frame isn't much of an issue. This wouldn't force them to play together per se since they can still attack the CP/Rasman solo, but it would encourage cooperation.
  25. Move CPA further up the road

    I disagree but ok.
