So currently mortars are only allowed to be used during wartime and cannot be used against Rasman or Feruz Abad which means that you can't even use the smoke rounds, white phosphorous or the flares without it being war. So can you change the rule and allow non HE shells to be used since WP is the God of shells and doesn't explode an entire city block.

+1 I agree. So long as HE shells arent used Id like to see the many tactical uses. Like for limited use on capture points or on any of the KOS zones.

Maybe have it when you have a good size little team you can for the game session get admins permission if you can explain how you intend to use it. That way they can watch for foul use.

I can see using this in a few ways of my own. Like flares as a fireworks display!

Hmm, I don't know if most of you recall back when mortars were allowed earlier in the year, and how cancerous the server was. You couldn't log in without Rasman being flattened, those who were using them weren't really even targeting Blufor/Opfor, more so just indiscriminately firing into populated areas. Certain players found locations where they could set up and avoid radar detection, further causing problems when it came to dealing with the issue directly in game.
As soon as the rules were implemented the problems ceased... All I can see happening is people abusing mortars again if they are allowed out of wartime. They cause far to much collateral damage than necessary in built up areas, and it kills my frames by like 10-15 when everything is in ruins......

What can be achieved with mortar fire can be done with IED's and RPG's anyway...

Either that, or remove the op targeting computers. Make them operable by manual means only...

This is just a personal opinion so don't take it too hard.

This Suggestions wasn’t exactly to alllw HE rounds. It was to basically allow smoke rounds.

I realize that @Unknown. But it was mentioned so I had to contribute LoL. Personally I don't see the point of using the mortar just for laying smoke. Someone change my chain of thought regarding this...

The degree of coverage a mortor round of smoke than that of its grenade counterpart. Furthermore it can negate nightvision in that area. Give me a chance and ill find more uses.

Oh ya, does it effect thermal vision? And guided missiles etc? If that's the case then I'm partially convinced already.

Not so much thermal i think maybe the flares. When it comes to lock on or guided maybe if the smoke is detected ingame as a solid like hardcover. I think you can lock on still through softcover if you get a good spot. The other thing is the tear gas rounds for area denial and flares which effect nightvision.

Makes sense, they are valid reasons for use of a mortar in my opinion as opposed to just nuking an area in hopes of getting kills. I admit I do love watching the odd white phosphorus barrage from afar lol.

It only takes one or two retards to ruin it for everyone though.

Yes the smoke does fade like its handheld little brother the grenade.

It does last long so it shouldn't lag too much.
